The London Eye was amazing!!! Great views from the pod, cool experience, and the ticket was fast-track, so we didn’t have to wait. The boat was comfortable, and we had the best view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. We also enjoyed the audio guide, which had a lot of interesting facts only real Londoners would know. All in all, it was very enjoyable and just a really great trip!
Don’t miss out on London Eye if you’re ever in London! This was our second time in London and both times we were very lucky with the weather so we got to see very far. The clear blue skies served as a wonderful backdrop for taking photos of London that look like a postcard. My wife enjoyed the London Eye river cruise very much as it was a great opportunity to relax from all the walking and see the landmarks right from the water.

While slowly spinning in one of the 32 pods, scan the city below you and witness the commotion happening. Be sure to take in the beautiful views of the River Thames and the many bridges crossing it. Amongst others, you can see the Westminster Bridge, one of the oldest and most recognized London bridges. Other bridges that you can spot are the Millennium Bridge and the Tower Bridge which is often used as a symbol of London. Regardless of which time of the day you choose to go on the London Eye, the views are sure to amaze you!
Did you know that the London Eye is also called the Millennium Wheel?
The concept of the London Eye originated as an entry to a 1993 competition sponsored by The Sunday Times and Great Britain’s Architecture Foundation that searched for a new London landmark that would commemorate the new millennium. The competition turned out to be a bust, and no winner was chosen. However, David Marks and Julia Barfield decided to undertake the project themselves.
The construction of the London Eye started in 1998, with the wheel being assembled horizontally over the River Thames before being pulled upright. The London Eye was unveiled on December 31st, 1999, but it welcomed its first passengers on March 9th, 2000, right at the start of the new millennium, earning its nickname – the Millennium Wheel.
Book your London Eye and River Cruise Ticket to see London from high above on the Ferris wheel & from below the street level on the Thames!
