About London Eye

The London Eye provides stunning 360-degree views from its glass capsules. During the 30-minute ride, you’ll see many of London’s most iconic landmarks. On clear days, you can see up to 40 kilometers, including Windsor Castle, with stunning sunset and nighttime views of the city’s twinkling lights.

The wheel has 32 air-conditioned capsules mounted on the outside, each powered by electric motors. Numbered 1 to 33 (with number 13 skipped for superstition), each 10-ton capsule represents one of London’s boroughs and can hold up to 25 passengers, who can walk around or sit. Moving at a gentle speed of 26 centimeters per second, the wheel completes a full rotation in about 30 minutes, accommodating up to 800 people per rotation. As you ascend, you’ll be treated to stunning bird’s-eye views of the River Thames and famous landmarks like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Shard, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, and the Tower of London.

Best time to visit London Eye

The London Eye is a popular destination and is busy on most days. Generally, summer is the best time to visit because of the good weather. To avoid crowds, visit early in the morning or late in the evening. While sunset offers stunning views, it’s typically the busiest time.
